In honor of National Stroke Month and Mother's Day weekend, Beauty Kliniek will be hosting our first Mother-Daughter Day to benefit the American Heart Association on Saturday, May 11th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As part of our schedule of Educate & Empower classes that day, Stroke Survivor Vicky Powell will be talking about the "7 Small Steps to Big Changes" as part of her presentation on how to prevent heart disease and stroke and what to do if prevention doesn’t work.
Vicky is a native Californian, born and raised in a suburb of Los Angeles. She came south to UCSD in 1973. After graduation, Vicky worked at the UCSD medical school in educational administration, community health education and most recently, as the Special Projects Manager for University of California Television. Vicky has been an active volunteer in her children’s schools, sports activities and in community fundraising for various health-related causes. She is here today as a volunteer health educator for the American Heart Association.
Vicky’s involvement with the American Heart Association began when she survived a near-fatal stroke in 2007. This presentation details Vicky’s survival, as an unlikely stroke victim, some important lessons learned along the way and details the AHA’s “Life’s Simple Seven” for cardiovascular disease prevention.
Vicky's presentation is at 1 p.m. RSVP to the full day of events, including mini beauty services, special discounts on retail and regular spa services and classes is $30, of which $5 will go directly to the American Heart Association. However, if you would like to attend the classes only, your RSVP is only $10.
Please call 858-457-0191 for more details. Come prepared to be pampered and empowered to well-being!
